The Department of Business Management was set up under the School of Business and Management Studies with the very inception of Assam Women's University in September, 2014. Since day one, the sole aim of the department has been to provide an opportunity to talented and ambitious management enthusiasts to gain an insight into the nitty-gritty of the world of business, and through an exhaustive curriculum and cutting-edge teaching methodology, transform them into management cognoscenti capable of leaving a lasting imprint in the corporate world.

Programmes Offered

At present, the department offers a two year Master of Business Administration (MBA) programme. In line with the constant endeavour of the department to providing a jumpstart to the corporate ambitions of the young and dynamic female students of the country, and give flight to their corporate ambitions, the MBA programme was designed to provide an exhaustive coverage of the theories and concepts of the various management functions.A thorough assimilation of the content covered in the classroom is ensured by providing the students with adequate scope of putting their knowledge to practice via continuous practical assignments and projects.

Objectives of the MBA programme
  • To equip the students with the necessary skills for effective decision making and problem solving in a real-world situation.
  • To instil entrepreneurial abilities and ambitions in the heart of the students.
  • To ensure an all-round character development through value-based education.
  • To develop ethical and socially conscious business leaders for the future.
  • To create able and successful women managers who will be able to shatter the glass-ceiling and become a force to reckon with in the world of tomorrow.
Courses and Specializations

The MBA programme is a perfect blend of core, elective and foundation courses offered over four semesters, with a compulsory summer internship of two-month duration right after the first year. The core courses are offered in a variety of domains which include amongst others:

Three specializations are available to the students as of now viz. Human Resource, Finance, & Marketing, and the students are free to choose any one specialization from amongthese in their second year.
